About the role
Design, build and maintain scalable automated testing across our products, and apply AI-assisted approaches where they genuinely improve test generation, coverage, maintenance and defect detection. You will work across UI, API and CI, own the frameworks rather than only writing scripts against them, and help design test strategies for AI-powered product features. It suits around 5 years in software test automation with strong JavaScript, TypeScript and Java.
What you will do
- Build and maintain end-to-end automation frameworks in JavaScript, TypeScript, Playwright, Cypress, WebdriverIO and Cucumber, and in Java with Selenium WebDriver, TestNG and JUnit.
- Implement API automation over REST and GraphQL with Supertest, Postman and RestAssured.
- Apply AI and ML-powered testing: self-healing locators, visual regression, intelligent and risk-based test selection, and evaluate new AI testing tools for adoption.
- Use LLMs and AI coding assistants to accelerate test generation, test-data creation and maintenance, with sound judgment on where they help and where they do not.
- Design test strategies for AI and LLM-powered product features, handling non-determinism, building eval-style assertions and validating guardrails.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD test pipelines and containerised test execution.
- Investigate failures to root cause, drive down flaky tests and keep suites reliable and trustworthy.
- Write clean, maintainable test code following established patterns, and work with developers and product managers to embed quality throughout the SDLC.
What we are looking for
- 5 years in software test automation, with strong JavaScript, TypeScript and Java experience.
- Proficiency with modern JavaScript automation tools (Playwright, Cypress or WebdriverIO), Selenium WebDriver with Java, and a BDD framework such as Cucumber.
- Hands-on experience building automation frameworks from the ground up in Java with TestNG or JUnit, not only writing scripts against an existing one.
- Solid API testing skills across REST and GraphQL, with Postman, Supertest, RestAssured or similar.
- Hands-on use of AI coding assistants in real engineering work, plus a working understanding of prompt engineering, LLM APIs and integrating AI services into automation workflows.
- Exposure to applying AI or ML in testing: self-healing tests, visual AI validation or LLM-based test generation.
- Experience with CI/CD, Git and basic Docker usage.
- A strong debugging and root-cause mindset, and a good grasp of testing methodologies and design patterns.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, comfortable working across multiple projects and teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with commercial AI testing platforms such as Testim, Mabl, Applitools or Functionize.
- Exposure to performance testing with k6, JMeter or Gatling.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure or GCP, and parallel or containerised test execution at scale.
- Familiarity with build tools such as Maven or Gradle, and reporting tooling such as Allure.
- Accessibility testing with axe-core, or visual regression tooling such as Percy.
- Contributions to open-source testing tools.
- Relevant certifications: ISTQB, cloud, or AI and ML credentials.
